How many times have you heard someone say, "It'll never happen"? I hear it all the time, and have come to the conclusion that the real meaning behind this statement is that these naysayers are really saying that they don't want to deal with the issue. It has become the CULTURE OF LIFE in America.
We have become a culture that accepts democracy as our form of government, rather than a republic. Worse yet, we have become a culture that accepts MOB RULE. Either way, I think our Founding Fathers predicted the outcome accurately. They warned us that, if we weren't vigilant, the form of government they established for our country could become as corrupt as any other form of government. So, now, we are on the precipice of a disaster ... all because we were not vigilant.
The democracy in which we live has been embraced as that which is as close to a perfect form of government as we can get. But, no ... it isn't. Here's why:
First, a democracy - or mob rule - conflicts with the FACT that our Bill of Rights guarantees INDIVIDUAL rights. If the "mob" wins, there are many "individuals" who are left out in the cold. This does not bode well for any civilized society. However, there is a way to satisfy both the "mob" and the "individual". There would be only one problem, which I will cover later.
The way to solve the problem of mob rule versus individual rights is to enact a CHOICE Program in our form of government. Everyone seems to like to be free to make choices in their lives. Right? They want to choose their religion, make choices in the schooling of their children, choose how many children they will have - or not have -choose their careers .... etc. Choice is good for everyone. It gives each and every one of us the freedom to choose for ourselves. How could anyone be unhappy with that?
Because we have become a culture of mob rule, rather than individual choice, the status quo would be difficult to change. It isn't something that should be difficult to change, but it would be ... for one reason. That reason is greed. Greed for power. Greed for money. There's where the difficulty for change comes into play.
I've spoken before about the "givers" and the "takers". The "givers" are those who are left out in the cold. The "takers" are the ones who have, collectively, participated in mob rulings. They are the ones who do not want to relinquish the status quo for the more just system of CHOICE.
The way CHOICE would work is as follows: You choose one of two plans for your form of governance. You could either choose the SOCIALIST PLAN (Plan S), or the FREE MARKET PLAN (Plan FM).
If you chose the S Plan, you would have to abide by the rules of that plan; such as, paying the higher taxes for all the social programs, defense and Big Brother salaries. Of course, you would also receive all the Big Brother entitlements and advice that you would otherwise be unable to obtain on your own. If you choose to leave Plan S at a later date, you have to leave all the taxes you have paid in the S Plan Treasury ... so that they can continue to run their entitlement programs. I envision most folks not wanting to exit this plan after years of paying the higher taxes.
If you chose the FM Plan, you would have to abide by the rules of that plan; such as, only paying for defense and the few salaries it would take to run this highly-efficient form of government. If you chose to leave this plan to join the S Plan, you would have to contribute to the S Plan whatever is required to bring yourself up-to-date for receipt of any entitlements. I can't imagine anyone wanting to leave the FM Plan, unless they didn't fully understand the concept of self-reliance and individual responsibility when they signed up!
Defense of our nation would be paid by everyone. Infrastructure would be paid by the users. In fact, just about EVERYTHING would be paid for by the users. If you chose the S Plan and want a stadium, go for it. By that, I mean, PAY FOR IT. If a member of the FM Plan wants to go see a game after the S Plan members paid for the stadium, the FM members would have to pay more to see the game. Afterall, the stadium DOES belong to the socialists. So, they set the price. If the S Plan members want to build a gazillion art museums, they pay for it. If an FM Plan member wants to go see one of the museums, those who built it would set the price.
With the FM Plan, if you have ten children, YOU would pay for their food, clothing, housing, education, medical, etc. If you choose to have only one child, you get to give your child a better life. If you chose the S Plan, where OTHER willing members would be taxed to pay for your children's upkeep, it wouldn't really matter how many children you have. If you chose the FM Plan and have ten children, you would be left with the consequences of NOT having planned responsibly. Ain't nobody else's fault. If you want a ride on the T-Train, you pay ... EVERYONE pays. If you have ten children, you pay for each one to ride the train. If you have no children, you pay less.
Legal aliens would pay the full price for usage. If they want to become citizens, they learn English and take a history/civics test. Then, they must choose a Plan. Ilegal aliens are sent home to stand in line and come here LEGALLY!
The problem with the CHOICE Program that I mentioned earlier is this: Socialists don't want the rest of us to have choices. They want EVERYONE to pay for THEIR choices. It isn't enough to require that only the socialists pay. They also want OUR money. So, what will it take?
That's where my optimism has turned into pessimism. I was optimistic about my country and the desire of our politicians and citizens to want the BEST for all citizens ... honestly, for most of my life. That BEST that our country has to offer, my friends, is - and always has been - FREEDOM. None of us owe anyone a dime to pay for THEIR choices. We are only obligated to pay for OUR choices. The BEST that America has to offer is NOT entitlements. It is NOT a free ride. It is NOT affirmative action. It IS FREEDOM OF CHOICE... REAL EQUALITY ... RESPONSIBILITY ... and, SELF-RELIANCE ... FOR ALL CITIZENS.
Try bringing up this idea to others and see what they say. If they say that it'll NEVER happen, ask them if it's because they wouldn't really want it to happen. Ask them if it would be too much trouble to fight for justice in America. Then, ask them if it's fair and just to tax others to pay for the choices of the "mob", without any regard for individual rights. Ask them if they've been indoctrinated for far too long to think OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!
I fear that, if a fairer, more just form of government is not explored, we will continue down this slippery slope to full-blown communistic/totalitarism. Then, total collapse. More and more people, who think that others owe them and that they are "entitled", are breeding like roaches. We will be outnumbered. And, we will have willingly relinquished our freedom of choice ... ANY choice ... ALL choices ... to the will of the "mob". Then, it will be too late. Mark my words ...... it WILL happen. It will be our final, and tragic, CULTURE OF LIFE.
